Dear Northdale Sanitary District,
The Board of Northdale Sanitary District has voted to increase the rates throughout the District. The rates will go into effect with the billing statements that will be sent out in January. The new minimum bill will be $128.00. The new rates will be as follows:
Sewer: $60.00
Service Charge: $29.00
Water: $39.00 for the first 3,000 gallons
3,001-10,000 gallons: $.0025/gal
10,000+ gallons: $.004/gal
These increases are due to several factors affecting the District. The City of Rapid City has again increased our sewer bill. We also needed to increase the sewer portion to help make us eligible for additional grants that we are applying for the reroute project. The sewer portion of your bill also goes towards the routine maintenance and upkeep of the lift stations and repairs that may need to be made. The service charge of your bill goes towards paying for the trash pickup, street lights and assists with the cost of road repairs. The water portion of your bill covers the cost of the use of water and helps maintain our wells, tanks and pumps.
We know this feels like quite a large bump in the bill and can cause some financial stress. Below is some information on sources to contact that may be able to help with some assistance if you need it.
LIHWAP: Low Income Household Water Assistance Program. They can be contacted at Sturgis County DSS LIHWAP Utility Assistance located at 2200 W. Main St., Sturgis, SD, 57785. Their phone number is 605-347-2588.
We also wanted to update you on the office hours. Monday through Thursday, office hours are 8:00AM-5:00PM. On Mondays and Tuesdays, we will not be returning any calls unless it is an emergency, but you can feel free to stop down into the office if you need to discuss something on those days. Voicemails will be followed up with Wednesday-Friday. On Fridays, the office hours are 8:00AM-12:00PM.
